Au Ver À Soie® Soie Surfine, is a fine “Z” twist spun silk that is 130/2 with a beautiful luster. Made in France by the Au Ver a Soie company, whose quality has remained steadfast since 1820.
Use for fine hand sewing, appliqué, cross stitch, and machine or hand sewing
Cross stitchers use it on finer count linens — it gives crisp definition so you can see every stitch, without railroading the thread into the linen, giving it a light, delicate appearance
It is recommended to use for text stitching in counted thread work as it gives the lettering more crisp definition

A favorite for fine hand embroidery and counted thread work
Sharon Schamber recommends this thread for piecing, hand appliqué, and long-arm quilting machines
Does not add bulk to seams — silk thread compresses when ironed, unlike cotton — a critical issue when working with fine points in piecing and machine appliqué

Sparkly metallic thread in a wide variety of colors from Au Ver a Soie ®
Unlike other metallic threads, when these threads pass through the fabric, the metallic fibers don't break, preventing the thread from knotting, even with repeated stitching. For example, in needlepoint composite stitching where you are passing through the same hole of the canvas.
The thread doesn't twist; it remains very supple and behaves - unlike other metallics. The secret is the construction of the metallic making a round thread. When stitched this means they lay beautifully on linen or canvas.
For cross stitch application, we recommend the Size 4 Metallic Braid and a Tapestry Size 26 needle. If you are planning to stitch on higher linen thread counts(e.g. 37 ct +) , we recommend using Accentuate or Bijoux metallic threads.
